Wells Sport Foundation Jess Ennis

The Wells Sports Foundation is a new sporting charity created and entirely funded by successful entrepreneur, Barrie Wells, to provide financial and motivational support to sustainable grassroots sports projects.

The aim is to make a difference by promoting good health and healthy recreation, to motivate and encourage young people to take up sport as a lifelong activity.

They can provide support in two ways:

By providing grants to qualifying sports clubs to help fund legacy projects that will increase participation in sport by young people both now and in the future.

They also have a team of world class athletes who will visit schools, sports clubs and other voluntary organisations throughout the country so that young people can engage with and be inspired by some of Britain's most accomplished and promising athletes. These athletes are their Ambassadors and they are all funded personally by Barrie to help them take a step closer to winning medals in 2012 and beyond.

Their Ambassadors include Lizzie Simmonds (British 100m backstroke champion and 2008 200m world silver medallist),Caitlin McClatchey (two gold medals in the Commonwealth Games, 200m and 400m Freestyle), Jodie Williams (two gold medals in the World Youth Championships, 100m and 200m) and Katarina Thompson (gold medal in the World Youth Championships, Heptathlon).

The Foundations Patron is World Heptathlon Champion, Jessica Ennis, and they are endorsed by UK Athletics, British Swimming, British Triathlon and Pentathlon GB.

Qualifying organisations may receive support in the form of a Sports Grant or an Ambassador......or even both!
