Sponsorship

Sponsorship involves a commercial agreement between a company and a sport. In return for a financial contribution, a sports organisation may allow the use of the company’s name in commercial activities.

Sponsorship can enhance a company’s profile through association with an event, club or team. This can be a powerful association, as it is perceived as an endorsement by an independent third party. Consumers are aware of the costs of sponsorship, but the message is more subtle than paid-for advertisements.

Sponsorship can be notoriously difficult to obtain and we are therefore providing tips and guidances on how to be successful with sponsorship. We also provide a link to sportsmatch so once you are succesful with a sponsor you can potentially double your sponsorship amount!

The final decision-making panel for Sportsmatch will be held in November, so grassroots sports projects that would like to have an application considered at this meeting will need to submit a completed online application by 5pm on Wednesday 13th October, 2010, together with all essential project documentation. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
