Community Activities Training Scheme in Slough - Don't miss out!

This is a free four-day course, for people living or working in Slough. With the skills of contributing expert trainers, partners and allies, the course aims to equip participants with the skills needed to set up and run projects in the community.
This course is ideal for anyone wanting:
• to know how to develop projects in their local communities
• to meet other like minded individuals
• to gather essential information about planning projects and events
• to get and share ideas and inspiration
• to find out about sources and funding and how to apply
• to find out the next steps for their project idea.
• to hear from and meet people who can support and give advice on a project idea
• to have fun!
Accompanying CATs’ is ‘Art & people’, written by the Arts, Sports and Play Team, a nationally recognised guide to setting up and running arts projects in the community, written by Arts Development and Christine Wilkinson. All attendees will receive a free copy. Everyone welcome whether they have loads of experience or none!
CATs’ has attracted regional and national attention and have recently been adopted by other areas, including surrey, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire.
This course is delivered through talks, workshop, practical sessions, group projects and discussions and covers the following.
>> Setting the scene aims to inspire participants and help them to set an approach that will
create a sensitive working atmosphere for their projects.
>> Collaborative Creativity will encourage participants to think about collaboration and partnerships, get excited about creativity process, through taking part in creative or physical activities.
>> Practicalities familiarises participants with the range of practical issues involved in running community projects and an understanding of the period and process of planning arts projects.
>> Money and Support introduces fundraising, aiming to unlock the community funding system and empower participants to write their own successful funding bids. At the end of the session, participants have an understanding of the support available to them, how to write funding bids and create a balanced budget.
>> Publicity and marketing aims to help participants get the best out of the press and produce effective promotional material within a tight budget
>> Working with Difference provides an opportunity for participants to appreciate difference and to develop an understanding of the value of equal opportunity.
