Sky Ride Local Coming to Slough - Leaders Wanted!

Archived press release

Date Published: 01/02/12

Sky Ride Local is all about helping a community to embrace bike riding, to explore their local area and meet like minded people. It is first and foremost about fun, health and exercise outdoors.

Sky Ride Local is about bike rides not cycling, we are engaging with people at the very start of a cycling journey and we know the term ‘cycling’ can be off putting to newbie's but that everyone loves the idea of a summer bike ride!

We do have the unique opportunity in 2012 to give people a chance to feel part of the Olympics by coming along to rides with British Cycling - the NGB competing at the Olympic and running fun rides in their local area. We Believe that our Olympic Team will inspire people to try cycling, whatever their level or experience.

Sky Ride Local is the first ever truly national programme of fully organised and marketed led rides. The rides are free, fun, safe and community focussed.

A key part of the programme is developing ride leaders within the Local community. Our Ride Leaders have fun, get a recognised qualification, and inspire cyclists to get more out of their riding. As a British Cycling Ride Leader you’ll plan, deliver and evaluate rides for groups of beginner and intermediate level children or adults. You’ll receive kit, training, support and payment for delivering our Sky Ride Local bike rides.
