WAMDSAD GAMES SUCCESSES
WAMDSAD, the Maidenhead based sports club for the disabled, have celebrated another successful sports day at their 27th Annual Games held on the Braywick Sports Ground, in their 35th anniversary year.
Over 130 disabled men, women and juniors from ten different clubs in the South East competed in a wide range of serious and fun events in a well organised and happy day’s activities. For the first time for many years there was no archery competition as the majority of visiting clubs are unable to provide facilities to meet the requirements of Health and Safety, and thus attract no competitors in that discipline. WAMDSAD have always been fortunate in being able to provide both indoor and outdoor training facilities at their clubhouse and in connection with the local authority at Braywick Sports Ground.
At the end of the day, WAMDSAD were comfortable winners of the Track and Field events, and the ‘Overall’ day’s events, with Slough runners up in both categories. Outstanding performances from WAMDSAD members were by Lucie Bouron (age 15, Priestwood, Bracknell), Scott Denton (age 11, Winnersh) from Winnersh and Tia Ruel (age 13, Wokingham) amongst thirty nine members of the WAMDSAD team.
John Jenkins, President of WAMDSAD said:
“For yet another year the Club provided Fun, Friendship and Opportunity for so many disabled sports men and women to enjoy”.
