A National Governing Body of Sport (NGB), oversees the existing Vision for that Sport as well as the future direction and focus of that particular Sport.
National Governing Bodies are responsible for: -
Providing a National directive and structure
Providing support and insurance to those clubs that affiliate
Increase the quality and quantity of coaches, volunteers and officials,
Organise and/or provide information on competitive opportunities at all levels,
Assist with facility developments,
Provide information and advise on funding
Provide clear objectives and actions for clubs and individuals in assist in the development of that sport
Many National Governing Bodies have in place a Whole Sport Plan, which outlines the focus of that particular sport and explains in detail how aims and objectives are to be met. Sport England plans to invest £460 million across the 46 sports over the next 4 years to deliver grassroots sporting opportunities and a lasting Olympic and Paralympic legacy of one million people playing more sport. The funding has been awarded based on the contribution they will make to the three key outcomes of Sport England, Grow, Sustain and Excel. At Present 16 Sports have agreed their plans and funding and are looking to engage with local communities across England.
