South East Partnership
The South East Partnership for the 2012 Games (SEP) has been formed to ensure that the region delivers a world class performance so that every young person, every business, and every community has the opportunity to gain a positive legacy from the London 2012.
Club Partnership Agreement (994KB - DOC)The South East region has a lot to offer and a lot to gain from the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. The region has many resources and advantages which present opportunities for our region to play a signiifcant role in delivering the Games: our proximity to London; our position as a global gateway to Britain; and our world class sporting and cultural heritage.
The region is ideally placed to make the most of this once-in-a-generation opportunity and create a lasting economic and social legacy from the Games.
In 2005, London was awarded the honour of hosting the 2012 Games. The South East backed the bid and is an active participant in the Nations and Regions Group of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), established to ensure that the Games deliver UK-wide benefits.
Led by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), the key partners include Sport England, Tourism South East, Arts Council England South East, the Government Office for the South East, the South East Learning and Skills Council, the South East Strategy Unit, NHS South Central/South East Coastal, and Local Authorities.
The partnership works together and delivers a range of projects through three themed Working Groups:
New Markets Group (Economic)
New Aspirations Group (Social)
New Lifestyles Group (Health & Sport)
The South East Partnership has now taken stock of our progress against key targets and has developed the Triple Gold Action Plan as a framework to manage our own and partner’s efforts.
