Praise Board
Congratulations to Lisa
Davies
Lisa Davies, the Disability Development Officer
for Berkshire, has received well-deserved praise for her work with
the KICiN club in Newbury over the summer. Val Howard, the
coordinator for KICiN, wrote:
"KICiN Club has been a
great success; Lisa's coaches have been brilliant along with both
her volunteers and my existing ones. We have had up to 18
young people attend each week and they have experienced 10
different sports so far with a mixed team games day to come this
week. The whole holiday has run smoothly, been well paced and
judging from the evaluations the children all completed last week
has been well
received.
KICiN Club weekly has recruited at least 2 new
regular members and I hope this will increase. Two of my regular
volunteers are looking forward to their level 1 coaching courses
thanks to Lisa's support plus one of the parents is ready to do her
level 1 Boccia course with a view to opening an after school club
here for our learning support students to attend. A hugely
successful outcome all round"
Praise for
Debbie Griffiths
Debbie recently supported
Ben Jones on his ASA Level 2 Swimming Teachers course in Kennet
Leisure Centre, Thatcham. Ben's parents were pleased with the work
she put in and wrote:
"Ben could not have had
better support than that offered by Debbie. Her commitment,
determination and dedication far beyond the call of duty made a big
difference to Ben's level of understanding and progress, giving him
for the first time 'real access' to the course material. Debbie
showed real patience and understanding of Ben's complex learning
disability.
We wish you all the
best for the future!"

Berkshire are the Regional Boccia Champions for
2006!
Three pupils from The Avenue School in Reading represented Berkshire in the first Regional Boccia Championships held in Crawley, Sussex. The pupils playing were Team Captain Luke Lewindon, Michael Lewingdon and Andrew Donnall.

Luke led the team to a deserving victory by winning all of their league matches, winning one game 9-1! Luke, Michael and Andrew not only displayed great sportsmanship, their behaviour was impeccable.

Praise from Park Lane Primary School
Gerry
Crawford is doing a fantastic job with our SEN multi skills group. The children love the
sessions. The staff enjoy them too and
are able to use the activities during the week to consolidate
skills. Parents were also really happy that support was being given
to their children in a sporting field.
Gerry is great with the children,
they enjoy the sessions, work hard and feel they have
achieved.
More Praise for Gerry
Crawford
Gerry is doing a great job with our
SEN children. They enjoy the sessions, are motivated, keen to join
in, work hard and feel they have achieved. He has a good working
relationship with them, the welfare assistants have been impressed
with the work covered and the way it is taught. They try to further
skills when possible during the week and have asked for further
training. Parents have also been very pleased with the support
their child is getting with a sports related focus.
He's been friendly and helpful
through out and I just wanted thank and well done!
Thank You
Gerry
Just to say a big thank you for this
morning. The children really enjoyed it, I've caught up with most
of them and they're looking forward to next week. A couple of them
had been a little bit nervous (according to parents!).
All of the welfare assistants would
be interested in coming along to the other sessions as the feedback
from the Welfare assistants who took part was very positive and
they felt the activities are ones they would like to incorporate
into our SEN groups at school.
