Mencap Sport
Mencap Sport oversees a number of programmes to promote sport and increase opportunities for people with a learning disability to get involved.
Each year, sport benefits from a huge investment by government, and they work hard to ensure that sports organisations who deliver sport - at school, in the community, or in competition - are inclusive of people with a learning disability.
They do this by advising on inclusion policies, by providing training and advice, and by campaigning and lobbying. They work in partnership with organisations across the country including the national governing bodies of sport, government, and charities such as Special Olympics.
In addition, they manage a programme of sports delivery, including national championship events and a programme to identify and support gifted and talented athletes with a learning disability as they train towards and compete in international competition.
