There are around 11 million disabled people across the UK with a range of classifications from amputees to learning difficulties. A large contingent of disabled men and women, old and young, regularly participate in sport at venues and clubs within Berkshire. Many inclusive activities are available for disabled athletes throughout Berkshire ranging from wheelchair basketball to air rifle shooting. It is our firm belief at Berkshire Sport that we should encourage and support all disabled performers to get involved in sport and we aim to provide all the information possible needed to do so.

Athletics Talent Introduction Day (athletes with a learning disability)
England Athletics are running an Athletics Talent Introduction Day on Saturday 25th February at Brunel University. The day is for athletes with a learning disability or coaches who are keen to learn more about coaching athletes with a learning disability.

Wheelpower - Wheelchair Sports Opportunities
WheelPower‐British Wheelchair Sport, the national charity for wheelchair sport,
provides opportunities, facilities and equipment which enable disabled people to
play sport and lead healthy active lives.
Through its member Sports Associations and links with other organisations
WheelPower supports individuals to find a sport they are passionate about. There
are a wide variety of sports available including archery, athletics, table tennis,
shooting, skiing, wheelchair basketball and rugby.
WheelPower currently runs an annual programme of events consisting of:
• Primary Sports Camps (6‐11 year olds)
• Junior Sports Camps (11‐18 year olds)
• Youth Sports Camps (18‐25 year olds)
• National Junior Games (11‐18 year olds)
• National Championships
• Inter Spinal Unit Games
Alongside the annual programme of events there are many opportunities available
to participate in sport via WheelPower’s 14 Sports Associations.
