Walk 4 Life
Walk4Life
When getting from A to B whether its going to work or visiting friends you can leave the car at home and get the whole family walking. It’ll keep you and your family healthy and it’s a lot less stressful than being stuck in traffic. Best of all, taking a walk is pure quality time with your kids - no TV, no distractions, just chat.
Why walking is good for you
Walking is a great way to improve the general health of the whole family. It’s a feel-good exercise that’s also good for the environment and completely free.
Check out why walking is so fantastic:
No planning - be spontaneous: all you need are your feet and a pair of trainers or comfy shoes.
With your wellies and mac: a rainy day is no excuse and the kids will love the puddles.
Absolutely free: walking is an activity that’s both good for your health and easy on your wallet!
Good for bones and muscles: help your kids grow up big and strong. Walking is good for bone density and posture and helps keep little bodies lean and supple.
Builds up stamina: walking gets your whole body used to being healthy, and the younger the kids are, the better it is for them to start building up their stamina.
Burns calories: a brisk walk can burn calories and help keep you trim. The brisker the better but you should still be able to hold a conversation.
Helps beat stress: walking can make you feel good, especially if you’re out and about in surroundings that you love.
Sociable: take a friend and have a natter while you walk.
Travel: walking is a great way of making short journeys instead of taking the car; and you save money.
Walk4life.info is now live !
Please take a look at the site, and find your way around – www.walk4life.info
If you would like to become a supporter please e-mail: cedric.farineau@walkengland.org.uk who will be able to issue you with a username and password.
When you get these you will be able to add routes, and give information about them. The routes you add will show as routes supported by your organisation routes – and we will be able to report back on them to you at a later date. (Due to the large number of supporters it will take us a little while to issue all of the usernames.)
You can use the site without your supporter username – you can sign up as a standard user – this will allow you to create a personal profile to record your personal progress, find and create a walk. You can add walks, but these will show as anonymous walks – if you want the walks to show as supported by your organisation you will have to wait until you get your supporter username. In a couple of weeks time we will be adding additional functionality to the site, to allow people to create and join groups, and to set and sign up to challenges.
Please note – if you already have a username and password to add events to the walk events calendar this will not work on the main www.walk4life.info site – it is only valid for the walk events calendar.
